A Year and a Day

Deity Dedication Course

The primary focus of this course is to thoroughly explore, or even deepen, one’s personal relationship with a Deity that they are currently working with or are genuinely interested in working with in a more meaningful way. Through various practices and insights, participants will have the opportunity to connect on a deeper level, fostering greater understanding and communication.

While this is a structured, self-led course, as there are no traditional classes to attend, there will be four quarterly meetings with the course facilitator to discuss your progress an experience as well as…

  • 4 book reviews on your chosen deity, mythology and the culture your deity hails from

  • Keeping a meditation journal (there will be a Zoom pathworking in Quarter 1 for those without meditation experience)

  • Altar maintaining and deity offerings

  • Writing and facilitating a ritual (solitary or public) for your deity

  • Divination techniques

  • Creation of and teaching of a class on your deity OR writing at least 3 blog posts or articles on your deity OR creation of an art project dedicated to your deity (painting, sculpture, collage, poem, piece of music, etc.)

Short summary papers and book reviews are required as well as a final paper, 5-7 pages where you explore the year, your experience, how your relationship developed, or didn’t. Will you go on to continue to Dedicate yourself to and work with this deity? Has this experience shown you that you want to take your relationship further and deeper by embarking on the Clergy path as a Votary Priestix with ToHG?

A “Quarter” begins in the month you begin the course and each Quarter consists of 3 months.

Deities one can dedicate to through this course:

All European and North African Deities are potential options in this course. Please note, we do not accept Native American spirits, Lwa, Orishas or any Catholic Saints, in this course as these are already established traditions and paths with very specific requirements, culture, and training structures. For instance, if one wanted to become a Catholic Priest, they would go to the Catholic Seminary and not train here with us.

This course is facilitated by Tamrha Gatti Richardson, a ToHG High Priestess, Priestess of Hekate and Torchbearer in the Covenant of Hekate.
